Daily New Game

Settings and accessibility

In short. Every game has the same settings: a light or dark theme, colour-blind friendly colours, larger tiles and text, calmer or no animations, relaxed mode without hearts, sounds and vibration. You can play with touch, a mouse or a keyboard. Comfort and accessibility settings are free for everyone and never part of Plus.

Is there a dark mode?

Yes. Open Settings and choose Dark under Theme for a warm brown night look, or "Match my device" to follow your phone or computer. Light is the default.

Can I play if I am colour-blind?

Yes. Turn on "Colour-blind friendly colours" in Settings, under Comfort. Neighbouring areas on a board always get colours that are far apart, so they are easy to tell apart.

Can I make the text and tiles bigger?

Yes. Turn on "Larger tiles and text" in Settings, under Comfort. You can also zoom your browser as usual.

Can I turn off the animations?

Yes. Under Animations in Settings, choose Full, Calm or Off, or "Match my device" to follow your device's reduced motion setting.

Can I play without losing hearts?

Yes. Relaxed mode removes hearts, so mistakes never end a puzzle; rule breaks show on the board instead. Turn it on in Settings, under Comfort. See levels and difficulty.

Is there a timer?

The timer is hidden unless you want it. Turn on "Show the timer" in Settings if you like to race yourself.

Can I play with a keyboard?

Yes. Every game can be played with a keyboard as well as touch or a mouse. Each game's rules sheet lists its keys, usually the arrow keys to move and Enter or Space to place.

Can I turn off the sound or vibration?

Yes. Sounds and Vibration each have their own switch in Settings.

Do screen readers work?

Menus, buttons and results have labels for screen readers, and anything a character shows is also said in words. The puzzle boards are visual, so some games are easier than others without sight.

Are these settings part of Plus?

No. Comfort and accessibility settings are free for everyone and never locked. Plus only adds extra colour themes on top.
