Devices and offline play

In short. Daily New Game runs in the web browser of any modern phone, tablet or computer, so there is nothing to download from an app store. You can add it to your home screen, where it opens like an app. Once you have visited, the games also work offline, including an offline daily puzzle that still counts for your streak.

Which devices can I play on?

Any phone, tablet or computer with an up to date browser, such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge. Every play screen fits a small phone without scrolling, and wide screens put the controls beside the board.

Is there an app?

There is no app store app, and you do not need one. Add Daily New Game to your home screen and it opens full screen like an app, with its own icon.

How do I add it to my home screen?

On Android, open dailynewgame.com in Chrome and tap Install when it is offered, or choose "Add to Home screen" in the browser menu. On an iPhone or iPad, tap the Share button in Safari, then Add to Home Screen.

Can I play offline?

Yes. After your first visit the games work without a connection. If you are offline, today's daily is made on your device as the offline puzzle, and it still counts for your streak.

Does my progress sync when I come back online?

Yes, if you are signed in. Progress you made offline is saved in the browser and joins your account the next time you are online.

How much data does it use?

Very little. The games are small, and levels load in small chunks as you reach them. After the first visit most of the game comes from your device.

The page looks out of date. How do I update it?

Close the tab or app and open it again while you are online. The newest version loads by itself; there is nothing to install.
